Toowong Central Development Update
I know there is strong community interest in the development application for Toowong Central at 47 High Street, Toowong, and I wanted to provide an update on the current assessment process.
Following a review of the application, Brisbane City Council's assessment team recently issued a Further Advice Letter requesting additional information, amendments and clarification from the applicant across a number of important areas.
These include matters relating to podium design and building bulk, pedestrian accessibility and access to the central plaza, amenity for future rooming accommodation residents, safety and surveillance, landscaping, staging and plan clarity, noise impacts, traffic arrangements, car parking, servicing and waste collection, as well as flooding, basement access, stormwater management and construction management.
Further heritage information is also being sought from the applicant, and additional heritage matters may need to be addressed once this information has been reviewed.
The assessment process is designed to ensure all aspects of a development proposal are carefully considered and that any issues requiring further investigation or clarification are appropriately addressed before a decision is made.
It is important to note that the development application remains under assessment and no decision has been made at this stage.
I understand the level of community interest in this proposal and will continue to keep residents informed as the assessment progresses and further information becomes available.
