Honouring Culture and Connection at the GOPIO Queensland India Day Celebration

Brisbane is better when we celebrate the richness of all cultures and the diversity that makes our city such a vibrant and welcoming place.

It was wonderful to attend the India Day celebration at Roma Street Parkland, hosted by GOPIO Queensland, to honour India’s Independence Day and celebrate the rich heritage, traditions and diversity of the Indian community.

The event was a celebration of community and connection, providing an opportunity to share Indian culture with the wider Brisbane community and embrace the multicultural spirit that makes our city so special.

From cultural performances to community activities, the day showcased the many traditions, stories and contributions that enrich our city and strengthen the connections between communities. It was heartening to see people of all backgrounds coming together to celebrate, learn and enjoy the occasion.

Events like India Day play an important role in fostering understanding, inclusion and belonging. They remind us that our differences are a source of strength and that Brisbane is stronger, richer and more vibrant because of the many cultures that call our city home.
