Gold Star and Little Stars Reading Club Award Ceremony

It was such a joy to join the Gold Star and Little Stars Reading Clubs at both Toowong and Indooroopilly libraries to celebrate some of our youngest readers and their incredible achievements.

The Gold Star and Little Stars programs continue to inspire children to discover the joy of reading, and 2026 has been a remarkable year. With 8,094 children registered across the programs, participation has increased by an impressive 31 per cent, meaning thousands more young readers are exploring the wonderful world of books, stories and imagination.

The celebrations were filled with proud smiles as certificates and medallions were presented to children who have spent the year developing their reading skills, discovering new stories and building a lifelong love of books. It was wonderful to see the excitement and sense of achievement on the faces of so many young participants.

Reading is one of the most valuable gifts we can give our children. It opens doors to learning, creativity and opportunity, while helping to build confidence and curiosity from an early age. Programs such as Gold Star and Little Stars play an important role in fostering these skills and encouraging positive reading habits that can last a lifetime.

It was also wonderful to see families, library staff and young readers come together across both Toowong and Indooroopilly libraries to celebrate these achievements. These special moments highlight the important role our local libraries play in supporting literacy, learning and community connection.

A huge thank you to the dedicated library staff, schools, parents and carers who encourage and support children on their reading journeys. Their commitment helps nurture a love of books and learning in the next generation.

And to every Gold Star and Little Star who took part, congratulations on your fantastic achievement. Keep turning those pages. There are plenty more adventures waiting for you!
