Toowong intersection improvements and Sylvan Road bikeway - Toowong

Exciting news for Brisbane's western suburbs, with the Sylvan Road bi-directional bikeway progressing to detailed design following strong community support. The continuous bi-directional bikeway received stronger support during community consultation and is now moving to the next stage of the project.

The project will deliver a continuous connection between the Western Freeway Bikeway and the Bicentennial Bikeway, completing the final missing link in a 19-kilometre connected bikeway corridor from the Centenary suburbs to the Brisbane CBD.

In addition to the new bikeway, the project includes nearby intersection improvements designed to improve safety and make it easier for people to move through the area. Council has advised that the project will improve safety for all road users by improving intersections and separating walking, riding and driving spaces.

It's fantastic to see community feedback helping shape this important project and supporting better connections across Brisbane's western suburbs. The Western suburbs community has spoken, and the bi-directional bikeway is happening.

No more missing pieces.
