Diversity that Enriches our Neighbourhood: Choosing Brisbane as Home

Choosing Brisbane as home, and becoming part of our community.

It was a real privilege to serve as the Presiding Officer at a special Citizenship Ceremony and welcome some of our newest Australians.

One of the most meaningful parts of these ceremonies is meeting people whose journeys began in different corners of the world, but who now share something very special: a sense of belonging here in Brisbane.

Every new citizen brings their own story, culture, traditions, skills, experiences and hopes for the future. These unique backgrounds enrich our neighbourhoods, strengthen our communities and help shape the city we call home.

It was wonderful to witness our newest Australian citizens celebrating this important milestone alongside their families, friends and loved ones. The room was filled with proud smiles, happy tears and a shared sense of joy as everyone marked the beginning of this new chapter.

A heartfelt thank you to the Rotary Club of Toowong, particularly Christine and all the Rotarians who generously gave their time to present the ceremony and make everyone feel so welcome. There were so many wonderful volunteers involved, and their contribution helped make the occasion truly special.

To our newest Australian citizens, congratulations on this significant milestone. Thank you for choosing Brisbane as your home, and welcome to the community!
