BBC Pool Safety

Splash responsibly! Pool safety at home matters πŸŠβ€β™€οΈπŸ’¦

Keep friends and family safe around the pool this summer.

Drowning remains one of the leading causes of accidental death for young children, with many incidents happening in backyard pools due to non-compliant fencing or gates.

That’s why Schrinner Council is committed to keeping our community safe through proactive pool safety inspections. These checks are preventative and educational, helping pool owners identify small maintenance issues before they become serious risks.

With around 95,000 backyard pools across Brisbane, simple actions make a big difference:
βœ”οΈ Make sure your pool fence is secure with no gaps along the pool fence boundary greater than 100mm.
βœ”οΈ Check that gates are self-latching and are closed at all times.
βœ”οΈ Keep fences clear of climbable items, no objects nearby within 900mm.
βœ”οΈ Always supervise children in pool or spa areas.
βœ”οΈ Never prop pool gates open.

Brisbane City Council Pool Safety Program is about prevention, support and peace of mind, helping families keep pools safe for children, visitors and neighbours.

Because when it comes to pool safety, there’s no room for shortcuts πŸ’™πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ
