Upcoming Walter Taylor Bridge Closures

Nobody enjoys an unexpected detour late at night, so I wanted to share an important update for anyone who regularly travels across the Walter Taylor Bridge.

To allow Brisbane City Council to continue essential bridge maintenance works, the Walter Taylor Bridge will be closed overnight from 9pm to 5am on six consecutive Saturday nights:

• Saturday 12 September 2026
• Saturday 19 September 2026
• Saturday 26 September 2026
• Saturday 3 October 2026
• Saturday 10 October 2026
• Saturday 17 October 2026

These works involve the renewal of bridge nodes, which are critical connection points that link the bridge cables to the truss and help safely transfer loads through the structure.

To carry out the required de-tensioning and re-tensioning activities safely, the bridge must be closed to all users during these periods, including motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.

Scheduling the works overnight helps minimise disruption to the community while ensuring this important infrastructure remains safe and reliable for years to come.
