Budget 2026-27

Relief where it counts and investment where it matters 💛

The Schrinner Council’s 2026/27 Cost-of-Living Budget was announced, and it’s all about helping residents pay less while getting more.

From practical cost-of-living relief and cheaper rates, to record investment in roads, transport, drainage, libraries, parks and essential services, this budget delivers for local communities now and into the future.

Great news for families, seniors, first home buyers, renters, residents and our younger generations across Brisbane’s suburbs.

The 2026–27 Brisbane City Council Budget delivers record investment in the infrastructure, transport and community facilities our local area relies on every day.

  • Operation Smooth: A record $110 million road resurfacing program includes upgrades to Hawken Drive, Moggill Road, Sylvan Road and High Street.

  • Public Transport: A record $213 million will subsidise Brisbane buses, CityCats and Metro services, including free off-peak travel for eligible seniors.

  • Safer Schools: Funding has been allocated to the Indooroopilly Safer School Precinct to improve safety for students, pedestrians and cyclists.

  • Parks: Keating Park in Indooroopilly will receive upgrades to existing park infrastructure.

  • Active Transport: Council is progressing the Lambert Road Bikeway missing link, Toowong Intersection Improvements and works along Sylvan Road.

  • Community Facilities: More pickleball courts will be delivered at Perrin Park to support growing community participation.

  • Move Well Brisbane: A $5.6 million investment will expand free and affordable health and wellbeing activities across Brisbane.

  • Drainage: Local drainage improvements will be delivered at Witton Barracks, Adsett Street and other priority locations.

Despite ongoing cost pressures, the Schrinner Council continues to make every dollar count by investing in the services and infrastructure Brisbane residents rely on every day.
