Perrin Park’s Dog Off-Leash Area Timeline

The journey has been real... but I'm not giving up on this dog off leash park improvement 😩

Works signage is up! 🎉🎉

Perrin Park’s dog off-leash area is a loved community space, and I know how much it means to our neighbourhood 💕

Since the last big upgrade to the dog park in Nov 2023, the community shared their concerns and I've been working hard to get this rectified. As a refresher, this has been the journey ⬇️

• Feb 2024 – Community consultation launched to investigate concerns from last Council upgrades.

• July 2024 – Further community mobile pop-up held at Perrin Park and feedback provided to Council.

• August 2024 - Project listed using Suburban Enhancement Funding.

• Oct 25, 2024 – New upgrade plans announced with two design options put forward for community to vote on.

• Oct 30, 2024 – In-person mobile pop-up at Perrin Park sharing this news, and that works sadly can't begin due to the local bat colony hibernation season.

• Nov 8, 2024 – Community consultation closed with "Design 1" being the most loved.

• Jan 2025– Upgrade listed as a key priority.

• Feb 2025- Funding approved through Council Committee.

• Mar 8, 2025– Cyclone Alfred and flooding.

• Apr 2025 - Further rain episodes. Awaiting recovery works including clean-up and urgent Urban Utilities sewage system repairs at Perrin Park.

• Apr 24, 2025 – Clean-up of flood damage commenced; small dog area remained closed for safety due to Urban Utilities spill.

• May 2025 - Council locating and marking out services in preparation for upgrade works and final designs being prepared.

• June 2025 - procurement process completed through Council with only one compliant contractor submission.

• July 2025 - notice of works signage installed at dog park 🎉🎉🎉

• August 2025 (projected) - furniture and shelters ordered: lead time approx six weeks.

• Sept 2025 (projected) on ground works anticipated to commence subject to contractor availability, delivery of ordered goods and weather.

Improvements include:

⛱️ New shade shelters

🐕 Enlarged small dog off-leash area

🚶‍♀️Access pathways
