Cubberla Street and Jesmond Road Intersection Improvements
There is great news for Fig Tree Pocket, with pedestrian safety improvements at the intersection of Cubberla Street and Jesmond Road now complete.
These practical upgrades have been designed to make crossing the road safer and easier for pedestrians while improving visibility for both people walking and drivers travelling through the area.
The project includes a new pedestrian island and kerb build-out, helping to create a safer crossing point and improving sightlines at the intersection.
In addition to these improvements, Council has delivered:
• A new connecting footpath
• New kerb and channel works to support drainage
• A new streetlight to improve visibility and safety
• Fresh turf and minor landscaping
• New line marking and yellow no-stopping lines
While they may seem like small changes, projects like these play an important role in improving safety, accessibility and connectivity within our local community.
By investing in upgrades that support people of all ages and abilities, we are helping to make it easier for residents to move around the suburb and access local destinations safely.
It is wonderful to see these improvements completed, delivering a safer and more connected crossing for the Fig Tree Pocket community.
